Vodice - The beauty and picturesqueness of unspoiled nature

Our beautiful municipality of Vodice could be called a green oasis of nature. The beauty and colourfulness of the unspoiled green oasis is undoubtedly our priceless gem and a tremendous advantage that many readers and random visitors don't even know about yet. In addition to natural features, the purpose of which is the excellent quality of life of pleasant and sociable people in our 16 villages, the municipality also has an exceptional geographical location. The proximity of major towns and cities and excellent connections to all sides of the sunny sky is just one of the countless choices of our citizens who dedicate their journey to work or leisure.

The natural and cultural heritage

Our natural and cultural heritage offer a pleasant and safe living environment and relaxation. Both in short walks and runs between towns, between hills and through forests, as well as in relaxed cycling between villages and between neighbouring municipalities, where you can see several local attractions, such as the birthplace of Jernej Kopitar, the former Šinkov Turn castle, the Repnje monastery, churches, etc. and be sure to stop and refresh yourself with the recognizable Vodice salty pretzel.

Recently, the municipality of Vodice, together with the municipalities of Domžale, Mengeš, Komenda, Medvode and Trzin, was included in the Cycling network project, the purpose of which was to establish a network of safe bicycle routes and connections between the municipalities involved. The project enables sustainable forms of mobility for residents and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, and also contributes to the promotion of tourism development, as it enables various choices of recreational routes and access to natural and cultural attractions in the area.

The Cycling network runs through the countryside and to a greater extent past municipal centres, on already existing traffic areas - municipal public roads and paths and only exceptionally, where there are no other options, on a regional road. All routes are arranged and marked with traffic signals and floor markings, and information boards accompany you along the way.

The network of cycling paths is intended for all existing and potential bicycle users, both beginners and recreational cyclists, to spend their free time actively. At the same time, the routes are also intended for the visitors of the region, as the routes connect many tourist attractions in the LAS area. By connecting and establishing cycling routes, they also ensured greater safety for the most vulnerable and at the same time the most numerous groups in traffic, where we mainly include the young and the elderly.

With the establishment of a Cycling network routes in the area of LAS Za mesto in vas (For the city and village), 11 comprehensive cycling routes were established, more than 200 direction tables, more than 1000 square meters of floor markings for cycling routes and 10 information boards showing cycling routes were installed.

The future plan already includes new connections that will provide cyclists with even greater safety and enjoyment during regular, recreational or competitive stages in our green oasis of unspoiled nature.
