Hot: Routes for the first L'Etape Slovenia revealed

Finally, the "real" preparations for L'Etape Slovenia can begin!

It took us a little longer than we expected from the first proposal to the final route planning. But nonetheless, it is not "just one race", but L'Etape Slovenia, which takes place under the auspices of the Tour de France. Therefore, we had to consider many aspects when planning the route, and we paid special attention to safety and complexity.

The longer route - called "THE RACE" in many countries, has been extended from the originally planned 135 km to 145 km with peaks up to 2,020 meters above sea level.

The shorter one, called "THE RIDE", which does not necessarily stand for a calm panoramic ride, but also means turning the pedals at a high level, maintains its planned distance of 70 km with 671 m of total elevation.

A simultaneous start of both races is planned because we want to allow cyclists to be able to choose the distance also on the day of the race, just in case. When someone feels the leg power, the lightness of their feet and is taken by the peloton of cyclists to “The Race”, we should let people test themselves. Also, when someone is surprised by the number of kilometers, they should cycle safely and end the race successfully across the finish line, even if it is a shorter one.

The experience of L'Etape Slovenia and the fact that you are part of the L'Etape cycling family, which takes place under the auspices of the Tour de France around the world, are important.

The L'Etape Slovenia route passes through the following places *

Starting in Kranj opposite the Kranj grammar school, the cycling peloton continues along the left bank of the Sava River towards Smlednik, through Komenda and Pogačar Klanec towards Zalog, through Tunjice across Šenturška gora to Grad and through Velesova to Preddvor and then through Predoslje back to Kranj. This is where cyclists on the shorter distance cross the finish line, whereas those on the longer distance continue cycling:
through Besnica and then climb towards Podblica, the hometown of Matej Mohorič, continue in the direction of Jamnik, descend to Kropa, continue to Lipnica, Gobovce, Brezje pri Tržiču, Križe, Golnik, Trstenik, across Bašelj and Bela through Predoslje and cross the finish line in Kranj.
