  • Registration opens today for one of the emblematic events of cycling tourism in Spain

  • The route will retain all the spirit of the Tour de France that it has always possessed and designs a route layout very similar to that of the decisive stage 20 of La Vuelta

There are just over two months left until the Tour de France begins. The great cycling event of each season will have special relevance this year for all Spanish fans. This party dressed in golden yellow, which is an unavoidable event for any bicycle fan, will tour the Basque Country in 2023 over three stages.

On July 1, the centennial history of the Grande Boucle will enter the north of the peninsula, a territory that it will leave on the 3rd. But something of that spirit will remain until October. Three months later, on October 1, the L'Étape Madrid by Tour de France presented by Lapierre will be held.

A test that transfers all the idiosyncrasies of the most important cycling race in the world to cycling. Up to 1,000 runners can register as of today to experience a small part of what the Tour de France entails without leaving the Spanish capital.
The imprint of the great French round can be felt in all aspects of the cycling tour, including the sporting challenges. Among them will be the regulars King and Queen of the Mountain, which will be awarded to the fastest male and female runner to complete any pre-designated climb. Likewise, there will be a Sprint Challenge, which will emulate an intermediate sprint from the French race. All this, with the identity and color of the Tour de France.

The nerve center of the cycling tour will, once again, be the city of Villanueva del Pardillo. The Madrid municipality will be the start and finish line of the march. But, along the way, the L'Étape Madrid by Tour de France presented by Lapierre peloton will have to overcome 153 kilometres, four ports and more than 2,500 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain. All this with closed traffic and the necessary security device to enjoy riding the bike without thinking about anything else.

JOINING TOUR AND RETURN

Although in spirit, the march will breathe Grande Boucle in each and every one of its corners, the route, which takes place in some of the most recognizable corners of the western Sierra de Guadarrama, will refer to La Vuelta 23. Specifically, that of the decisive stage 20 of the great Spanish round.

Only two weeks before the march takes place, on September 16, the international professional peloton has an appointment with ports that will be climbed in both appointments. Iconic places such as La Escondida, the Alto de Santa María de la Alameda and the Alto de Robledondo will be the stars of the La Vuelta stage and of the L'Étape Madrid by Tour de France presented by Lapierre.

The amateur peloton will have help to overcome this challenge. Up to four aid stations, supplied by Scientific Nutrition, will be located at key points to provide participants with the necessary energy to reach Villanueva del Pardillo.

The women who decide to join the yellow gold squad of the march will also have the last opportunity to join the Movistar Women's Cycling Circuit. An initiative that seeks to promote the practice of cycling among women, raffling, among all the participants, a bicycle and a kit, both official from the Movistar team, as well as a free registration for one of the four cycling events of the Mussara brand in 2024 .

The telephone brand itself will be one of the protagonists of the Village that will be organized in the town of Pardilla on the Saturday before the test. From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., all the cyclists who participate in the march will be able to go to the expo to pick up their exclusive bib number and jersey, it will be time to meet up with colleagues and share anecdotes in an environment that will breathe cycling and Tour on all four sides . All this without forgetting that the sponsoring brands will make their full attention available to the visitor with stands and activations.

One of the most beloved and striking will be, for yet another year, the Family Ride by AEDAS Homes. A test so that the boys and girls can cover a handful of kilometers on Saturday that the older ones will do on Sunday. A completely free initiative and one more example of that family and community spirit that is characteristic of L'Étape Madrid by Tour de France presented by Lapierre. A little piece of the great French round, within everyone's reach.
