L’Etape du Tour de France: in the pros' footsteps

Who never dreamt of riding on the same roads as the Tour de France riders? A dream possible every year by participating in one of the mountain stages of the Tour de France: the same stage towns, the same routes, the same mythical climbs but also, and above all, the same race conditions as on the Grande Boucle.
The event is possible thanks to the important work carried out in collaboration with the police, local organizations and public authorities. This collaboration positions L’Etape du Tour as one of the only sportives to offer routes which are entirely closed to traffic.

L’Etape by le Tour: a sporting challenge beyond borders

The fervor around the event has led to expansion beyond borders: the Tour is an exciting giant. Today, the Etape du Tour de France has given birth to several events around the world, offering even more breathtaking landscapes in race conditions identical to those of the Grande Boucle.
With the experience of 29 editions and a peloton of 16,000 registered competitors, L’Étape du Tour is now Europe’s benchmark sportive event.

The 30th!

2022 is a landmark year for L’Etape du Tour: it’s the 30th edition! The race will be held on Sunday, July 10 and of course the event is “sold out” this year.
For the fourth arrival of the L'Étape du Tour de France in Alpe d'Huez, this will be rich in historical symbols: it is the exact route of the Briançon-Alpe d'Huez of 1986, when Bernard Hinault won the last stage of his career in the Tour de France.

On the program, the replica of the 12th stage of the 2022 Tour between Briançon and Alpe d'Huez, i.e. 167 km of road with more than 4,700 meters of elevation gain, including a new ascent of the Galibier, then the climb to the Col de la Croix de Fer, before tackling the 21 bends leading to the Isère resort.

L’Étape du Tour is therefore the sportive event par excellence around the Tour de France. To establish its position as the largest gathering of annual cyclists in the world, the general public will be able to experience the Tour from the inside by participating each year in a stage of the current Tour de France. L’Etape du Tour offers beautiful events, as beautiful as those of the Tour de France… Let’s ride!
